After several years of whingeing about my old web site – I finally got a new site designed and put up on the world wide web! I had got to the point of hoping people would NOT visit my web site because it was embarrassingly out of date….
Anyway those days are behind me, although of course I will have to keep this one updated with new photographs, regular blogs etc. which is more than just a little daunting – will I remember how to resize photos? will I have good quality photos to put on there??? Well let’s hope so!
This year I have introduced a few new designs into the Green Wood Chair collection…the main difference being that I have added upholstered seats using sheepskin and fabric. Certainly the woolly foot stools have made quite a splash and the Limited Edition collaboration with Orla Kiely was a great success this Summer.
Autumn’s coming now and I have begun to work with Kerry Woollen Mills along similar lines. Back in June, I visited the Mills and was able to choose some fabric and a colour, which they then dyed for me specially. The first chair and foot stool are being upholstered this week, so I am looking forward to collecting them next Monday . Look out for photographs under New Work in the Gallery.
The sheepskins are very popular in the Winter – very cosy and comfortable. At this point our house is full of them, on backs of chairs, on footstools and even on seats – sheepskin is the best fabric ever – warm, comfortable, easily washed, beautiful, soft to the touch, hard wearing..you can’t beat it!
Green Wood Chairs can be seen at 7 Hands Exhibition in November (16th – 27th) at the RIAI Merrion Square Dublin.
Maybe see some of you there!
